Two gallery spaces for different kinds of art

Nightingale Gallery runs two separate areas, each suited to different kinds of work. The Grand Gallery has high ceilings and big walls, so it works well for large installations and ambitious pieces. There's a Steinway Model B Grand Piano in there and it can fit about 75 people, which makes it good for recitals, chamber concerts, and artist talks that sit alongside the visual stuff. The Studio Gallery is smaller and more intimate, giving artists and visitors a chance to get up close to the work and have real conversations with the people making it.

The two spaces mean Nightingale can show a real range of ideas and back artists doing contemporary, abstract, figurative, still life, pop art, and expressionist work. Both are available to hire privately as well, so if you're an artist, curator, or performer wanting to put on a show in a proper, professional spot, you can book either one.

Exhibitions and Events Throughout the Year

Nightingale Gallery puts on a regular program of visual art shows and live performances, working with Nightingale Performing Arts Australia. The June exhibition Mixology brought artist Llael McDonald's work to the space, where cocktails become visual pieces. Thursday night openings like the Mixology launch give people a chance to meet the artists and get a real sense of what's on. It's straightforward stuff, but it works because the community actually shows up.

The venue operates as a place where visual and performing arts sit side by side. The program brings Australian and international artists together, both people already established in the field and ones just getting started. This approach matters for the inner east arts scene because it keeps things moving forward.

The Shop

Nightingale Gallery runs a small shop with original artworks and design pieces that fit its vision. You'll spot Assouline books (the luxury art and design publisher) alongside homeware and objects from Dinosaur Designs, the Australian brand known for its striking aesthetic.
