Why we built it

Australia has a rich and surprisingly large art scene — from blue-chip dealers in Sydney's Paddington and Melbourne's Flinders Lane to artist-run spaces in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, Aboriginal art centres in the Northern Territory, and coastal galleries dotted along every shoreline. Yet finding them has always meant trawling scattered listings, out-of-date directories and word of mouth.

We set out to fix that: a single, well-organised, genuinely useful directory of the galleries that represent and sell the work of living artists — not the public museums and state institutions that are already easy to find. Whether you're buying your first piece, building a collection, or simply love spending an afternoon among art, MyArtGallery helps you discover where to go.

What we cover

For every gallery we record what people actually search for: its location and neighbourhood, the art styles and mediums it shows, the price range you can expect, the services it offers, and the artists it represents.
