FELTspace: Adelaide's Contemporary Artist-Run Gallery on Angas Street

FELTspace is located at 266 Angas Street in Adelaide, SA 5000. Since 2008, the artist-run gallery has been showing contemporary art across all mediums. The space sits on Kaurna country, the Adelaide Plains, known to the Kaurna people as Tarntanyangga. It's part of Adelaide's creative precinct and fairly straightforward to get to if you're into art or just keen to see what they've got on.

The gallery is managed by co-directors who work together on curatorial decisions. FELTspace respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first inhabitants of the nation and operates with respect for the traditional custodians of the lands it occupies.

Contemporary, Abstract and Figurative Works Across Mediums

FELTspace shows contemporary art in loads of different styles. You'll see abstract and figurative paintings, photography, mixed media. The gallery works with artists at every stage, whether they've just finished art school or they've been going for decades. That mix creates space for people to actually experiment and talk seriously about what they're doing.

The Graduate Award and Writers platform are where you see the gallery putting its money where its mouth is about new artists. By backing people at different points in their careers over the years, FELTspace has become a proper player in Adelaide's contemporary art world.

Year-Round Exhibition Program and Curatorial Vision

FELTspace runs shows all year round, and the FELTprogram 2026 lays out what's on the horizon. The gallery keeps rotating its exhibitions, so there's usually something fresh to catch. Since opening in 2008, FELTspace has built real credibility with Adelaide's art crowd. Then there's FELTdark, an evening and night-time programme running daily from dusk to midnight. If you can't get there during standard gallery hours, this takes care of that. It's a straightforward way the gallery tries to make work accessible when it actually fits people's lives.

Planning Your Visit to FELTspace

FELTspace opens Wednesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Other times can be arranged if you contact them first. The gallery's at 266 Angas Street in central Adelaide, so you won't have trouble locating it. If you're more of a night person, FELTdark operates daily from dusk until midnight.
